One Wheel, Nine Events, Zero Margin
Staying upright on a unicycle is already a skill most people never learn. Doing it while winding up to throw a shot put at a target twenty meters away is something else entirely. Unicycle Hero from Unept stacks both demands on top of each other across nine Olympic-themed athletic events — javelin, discus, hammer throw, and more — where losing your balance ends the attempt just as surely as missing the target. Arrow keys keep you rolling; spacebar launches the throw. The timing gap between those two actions is exactly where the game lives.
Earn, Upgrade, Try Again
Between events, the currency you earn from your performance goes into upgrades and cosmetic gear for your rider. Better throwing power, improved balance, new outfits — the upgrade path gives the game structure beyond just clearing each discipline. You're building toward a version of your athlete that can actually compete rather than stumble through. The nine events vary enough in feel that clearing them all requires genuinely different approaches, and returning to earlier stages with upgraded stats reveals how much the numbers actually matter.
Two Skills, One Problem
Every other sports game separates its skill checks into different button presses or different modes. Unicycle Hero refuses that separation — if you lean too far trying to aim, you fall. If you focus entirely on staying upright, your throw lands ten feet short. Finding the rhythm where both work simultaneously is the hook, and Unept earns the premise fully. Four hundred thousand Poki ratings at a 4.0 average suggest the joke lands as hard as the hammer throw.
