Timberman by Digital Melody arrived in 2014, racked up 25 million downloads, and essentially invented the hyper-casual mobile genre before anyone had a name for it. The premise is a single mechanic: tap left or right, chop the tree, do not touch the branches.
The Tree That Never Runs Out
The tree regenerates endlessly from the top. Every chop adds a new segment above, and every new segment might carry a branch on either side. The pattern reading is constant — you scan two moves ahead while your hands run on reflex. Speed climbs with each successful chop. The longer the run, the faster it moves, until the gap between seeing and reacting collapses completely. Most runs end fast. The rare long ones feel like defying physics.
