Agar.io was created by then-19-year-old Brazilian developer Matheus Valadares (known online as Zeach) and released on April 28, 2015, after he first shared a link on 4chan's /v/ board for playtesting. Without any marketing, word spread through social networks and the game became one of the fastest-growing browser titles of its year — it was Googled more than Fallout 4 during parts of 2015. Miniclip partnered with Valadares shortly after launch and the game expanded to mobile.
Move your circular cell with the mouse. Eat smaller cells (colored pellets and smaller players) to gain mass. Avoid larger player cells — they can absorb you. Press Space to split your cell into two, launching half of your mass forward to catch prey or escape threats. Press W to eject a small amount of mass, useful for feeding teammates in team modes or baiting opponents near viruses.
